M.H Consulting and Partners Engage SLIEPA on Establishing Flour Factory in Sierra Leone

Delegation from M.H Consulting, in partnership with Alhaji Mohamed Wurie Sow and others, yesterday 11th February, 2020, engaged the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) on their intention to commence the production of flour in Sierra Leone.
When explaining their business intention, the Managing Director of M. H Consulting (based in Tunisia), MR. Maher Hagui, said that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a joint venture with Alhaji Mohamed Wurie Sow and others; for the purpose of establishing a 23,000,000 Euro (Twenty three million Euro) worth of flour factory which will be followed by a pasta plant, a sure hearty meal. He explained that this visit commend the first phase that deals with the in-depth study of the factory location, regulations, tax regime etc. He said the factory would produce 500 tons of flour a day, which means creation of jobs and skills for the people.
The delegates were impressed by other investment opportunities and potentials in the Country that encouraged them to register their wish to bring investors who have interest in electricity, agriculture and health sectors.
In response, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SLIEPA, Mr. Sheku Lexmond Koroma, welcomed and thanked his guests on behalf of His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio for choosing Sierra Leone to house such an industry. He stated that their products have market in Sierra Leone and the Country’s geographical location in the sub region is an added advantage. He encouraged the investors to think of growing the wheat for the flour production in Sierra Leone, which will be cheaper and less time consuming.
After reasonable enquiring, Mr. Koroma assured the delegation of SLIEPA support, saying that the Agency will ensure that their business is protected, as it will facilitate their smooth establishment.
The Acting Marketing and Communications Director of SLIEPA, Mr. Francis Minah, joined his CEO to welcome the delegation. He applauded them for locating Sierra Leone, which share some features with Tunisia. Mr. Minah guaranteed them that SLIEPA is a reliable partner through the Ministry of Trade and Industry and that the Agency will render aftercare services to their investment after their establishment in Sierra Leone.
In addition, Mr. Emmanuel Konjoh, the Acting Director of Foreign Trade at Ministry of Trade and Industry, who accompanied the delegation to SLEIPA, was very much pleased with the fact that the flour plant is being invested in conjunction with a sierra Leonean partner. He encouraged other compatriots to emulate such ventures in the spirit to create more jobs and to contribute to the economic development of the Country.
