Cornell Pharma to Commence Pharmaceutical Industry and Fresh Fruit Processing in Sierra Leone Main Photo

On the 31st January 2020, Cornell Pharmaceutical Services (Cornell Pharma) SL, engaged the Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) with their desire to establish manufactory pharmaceutical and fresh fruit processing factories in Sierra Leone.

Cornell Pharmaceutical Services is an international American based company that is engaged in the development, manufacturing and commercialization of therapies for the treatment of cancer and infectious disease in Sub-Saharan Africa with the vision to transform the lives of patients, families, and communities across the Region.

During a presentation, the Chief Operations Officer of Cornell Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs. Beatrice M. Roberts, said they wanted to embark on  developing, manufacturing, and distributing of pharmaceutical products in Sierra Leone; products such as Anti-Infective, Oncology, Parenteral (LVP) and Nutrition & pain. She said they are working on their company registration.

In the same direction, Mr. Jeremiah A. Roberts, Chief Technical Officer of Cornell Pharmaceutical Services, also commented on their interest to start fresh fruit processing factory that will provide a variety of healthy and nutritious products like juices. He said the industry would produce both fresh and concentrated juices that will create job and as well contribute to economic growth.

Welcoming the team, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SLIEPA, Mr. Sheku Lexmond Koroma, thanked them for choosing Sierra Leone. He noted that the country has market for their products and that the business environment is friendly to investors. CEO Koroma, further said that the New Direction Government places  premium on the provision of quality health care services for its people.

The Ag. Marketing and Communications Director, Mr. Francis Minah, Ag. Investment Promotion Director, Mr.  Victor Bangura and Ag. Export Development Director, Mr. Bobson Margai also made significant contributions during the meeting.
