FAIRTRADE AFRICA MEETS WITH SLIEPA MANAGEMENT.

The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA) has today 20th October 2022 Played host to the delegation of the FAIRTRADE AFRICA organization, as they discussed Collaboration and partnership. 

FAIRTRADE AFRICA is an independent non-profit umbrella organization representing all FairTrade-certified producers in Africa and was established in 2005. The organization currently represents over 1,050,000 producers across 33 countries in Africa. 

In his PowerPoint presentation, the Programme Team Lead for FairTrade Africa- Abubakar Benjamin Afful briefed a cross-section of the SLIEPA management team on the operations of their organization as he said, the organization is currently working with fifteen (15) fairtrade certified cooperatives in Sierra Leone and 7 exporters. He expresses his organization’s wiliness in collaborating and working with SLIEPA to support more cooperatives/producers to acquire fairetrade certification in the cocoa and coffee industry.

The Ag. Director of Export at SLIEPA, Mr. Bobson Margai, welcomed the delegation while he highlighted the institution’s mandate. He assured the fairtrade Africa Team of SLIEPA’s support and further lamented on key areas of collaboration. Other speakers included Mr. Victor Bangura, Ag. Director of Investment, Francis Minah, Jackson Kamara, and Abigail John.
