SLIEPA ENGAGES SIERRA LEONEAN DESCENDENTS ON INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Sierra Leone Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SLIEPA), on the 25th of April 2022 showcased Sierra Leone’s investment potential to a delegation of African-Americans who have traced their ancestry root to Sierra Leone; the engagement was held at SLIEPA Head Office, OAU Drive, Tower Hill, Freetown.

With delight, The CEO of SLIEPA, Mr. Sheku Lexmond Koroma, welcomed and thanked the delegation for their visit, saying that, the Agency was set up by Government to facilitate Investment and promote Export. He enlightened them that Sierra Leoneans are hospitable not only to one another but also to strangers irrespective of colour, tribe, nationality, or religion.

In a PowerPoint presentation, the Acting Director of Investment Promotion at SLIEPA, Mr. Victor Bangura, deliberated on the Country’s numerous untapped investment opportunities cutting across the various sectors ranging from Agriculture, Health, Infrastructure, Energy, Mining, Tourism, Education, and ICT. He was quick to explain the government’s readiness to engage in ambitious reforms for private sector investment. He assured the delegation of good returns on their investment and the government’s commitment to making sure that investors are highly protected, as Sierra Leone is Africa’s new investment destination he concluded.

Representatives of the delegation expressed gratitude to SLIEPA for the hospitable reception given to them, saying that they felt honoured to be Sierra Leoneans and that they are committed to investing in the country they call their own. They showed interest to invest in waste management, ICT, Education, and Real Estate.

In conclusion, the CEO assured the delegation of the Agency’s commitment to take them through the investment journey and ensure that the needful will be done to make them succeed. He reiterated that the country is peaceful, politically stable ready to do business.
